Reserved for future use by RFC 9110. There is no standard behavior, so APIs that use it define their own meaning.

Services that use it to signal that a payment, plan upgrade or billing detail is needed before the request can go ahead.

The Bex API returns 402 when a create needs a payment method first. A billing manager completes billing setup, then you retry the request.
